Comprehensive Report on President Tinubu’s 2025 Budget of Restoration

Comprehensive Report- Survey on President Tinubu’s 2025 Budget of Restoration

The 2025 Budget of Restoration, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, seeks to tackle Nigeria’s economic challenges while promoting sustainable development and social welfare. With a focus on reducing inflation, increasing oil production, and implementing the New Tax Reform Bill to enhance revenue, the budget has drawn widespread attention. To evaluate public perception and the Nigerian diaspora’s engagement, the C&M Centre for Leadership and Good Governance conducted a survey. Targeting diaspora professionals and stakeholders, the survey aimed to assess awareness, understand perceptions of key budget priorities, and gather actionable recommendations to enhance inclusivity and impact.

Key findings from the survey revealed high levels of awareness among the Nigerian diaspora but limited understanding of the budget’s specifics. While most respondents were informed via Nigerian news platforms and social media, skepticism about the feasibility of key goals—such as reducing inflation to 15% and achieving 2 million barrels of daily oil production—was prominent. Opinions on the budget’s human-oriented focus were polarized; some viewed it as addressing grassroots needs, while others expressed doubts about its inclusivity. Furthermore, respondents highlighted the need for transparent governance, anti-corruption measures, and strategic investments in food security, infrastructure, and industrial development.

Recommendations from the survey emphasized the importance of ensuring realistic revenue projections under the New Tax Reform Bill, stabilizing the exchange rate, and prioritizing domestic production to reduce import dependency. To make the budget more people-focused, suggestions included establishing Diaspora Liaison Offices, strengthening diaspora voting rights, and funding healthcare and industrial development projects. Additionally, respondents called for enhanced government-diaspora collaboration through regular updates, the inclusion of diaspora experts in policymaking, and the creation of think tanks to leverage professional expertise.

In conclusion, while the 2025 Budget of Restoration aligns with national priorities, addressing implementation gaps and fostering greater diaspora engagement are vital to its success. The Nigerian diaspora’s trust and support can be bolstered by transparent communication, robust anti-corruption measures, and proactive involvement in policymaking. With over 500 participants providing feedback, the survey underscores the importance of leveraging diaspora expertise to ensure the budget’s goals are achievable and impactful for all Nigerians.
