Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has continued his administration’s hands-on approach to governance with an unscheduled inspection of several major socio-economic infrastructure projects across the state, reaffirming his determination to ensure timely delivery and quality execution of critical development initiatives.
In what many observers describe as a demonstration of proactive leadership and accountability, Governor Eno undertook an extensive tour of strategic government projects in Uyo and surrounding areas, despite adverse weather conditions.
Also notable was the presence of media professionals, including Juliana Olayinka of Channels Television London Business Bureau, whose on-ground coverage helped project Akwa Ibom’s developmental strides to the diaspora and global audience.
Aviation Village Project Nears Completion
The Governor’s first stop was the Aviation Village Project, a flagship housing development strategically located to support the aviation ecosystem surrounding Victor Attah International Airport.
The project includes:
• 100 housing units comprising two- and three-bedroom apartments
• Dual-carriage access roads and internal road network
• Perimeter fencing across the 15-hectare estate
• A model primary school
• Security access gate and associated infrastructure
Governor Eno expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and confidence in the project’s timely completion, noting that the estate is intended to provide residential accommodation for aviation personnel ahead of expanded international flight operations.
“As part of our efforts to expand the aviation ecosystem in Akwa Ibom, we are building an Aviation Village to accommodate aviation workers near the airport,” Governor Eno previously stated while unveiling the project.
In a notable gesture promoting gender inclusion in construction and infrastructure development, the Governor commended the female contractors handling aspects of the project for their professionalism and efficiency, directing that more government contracts be awarded to capable women-led firms.

Agric Equipment Leasing Facility to Boost Mechanised Farming
Governor Eno next inspected the State Agric Equipment Leasing and Maintenance Plant, a major agricultural support facility designed to accelerate mechanised farming and food production across Akwa Ibom.
The facility features:
• 20 tractor sheds
• Administrative offices
• Fully equipped maintenance workshops
• 25 tractors with modern attachable implements
• Two low-bed transport vehicles
• Training and support infrastructure for operators and technicians
The Governor described the project as a strategic intervention under his administration’s agricultural transformation agenda.
“What we intend to do here is to lease these equipment to our farmers across the State at subsidized rates… for improved farming productivity,” Governor Eno said during an earlier inspection of the facility.
Analysts say the project could significantly improve agricultural output, support rural farmers, and enhance food sufficiency in the state.

CNG Mass Transit Terminal Signals Clean Energy Transition
The Governor also inspected the site of the proposed Ibom CNG Mass Transit Bus Terminal, a major transport and clean-energy infrastructure project aimed at modernising public transportation while reducing reliance on petrol-powered transit.
The terminal will include:
• CNG gas filling station
• Technical training academy
• Maintenance workshops
• Police post
• Restaurants and retail spaces
• Automated car wash
• Administrative and passenger support facilities
The initiative aligns with both state and federal clean-energy transport objectives and is expected to position Akwa Ibom as a regional leader in alternative-fuel transport systems.
“We will not be distracted from delivering the promises we made to the people of Akwa Ibom,” Governor Eno declared while flagging off the terminal project earlier this year.

Dakkada Luxury Estate / Assembly & Executive Quarters Progressing Rapidly
Despite heavy rainfall, Governor Eno proceeded to the Dakkada Luxury Estate, where construction continues on the State Assembly Quarters and Executive Council Quarters.
His decision to continue the inspection under difficult weather conditions further underscored his administration’s project-monitoring discipline and emphasis on execution.

Sustaining Legacy Projects While Creating New Ones
As someone who has visited Akwa Ibom State on two occasions within the past two years, I am particularly encouraged by the pace and seriousness with which Governor Umo Eno is pursuing development.
What stands out most is his deliberate effort not only to initiate impactful new projects, but also to sustain and complete strategic legacy infrastructure inherited from previous administrations—a governance philosophy increasingly rare in contemporary African politics.
This approach reinforces his oft-stated principle that:
“Government is a continuum… We won’t abandon any project.”
⸻
Diaspora Visibility and International Perception
Equally commendable is the role of international media professionals such as Juliana Olayinka in showcasing these developmental milestones to the diaspora and wider international community.
Such visibility is crucial in reshaping perceptions, attracting investors, and amplifying subnational governance successes beyond Nigeria’s borders.
⸻
Conclusion
Governor Umo Eno’s latest inspection tour reflects a leadership style centred on delivery, continuity, accountability, and strategic development.
If sustained, his administration’s infrastructure and socio-economic investments may further consolidate Akwa Ibom’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s fastest-developing states and a subnational model for pragmatic governance.
