Exploring Investment Opportunities in Nigeria: A Recap of the Nigeria House Event

It was a momentous occasion marked by honor and privilege when the CEO of Cater and Merger Consult Ltd, Mr. Godson Azu was invited by the Acting Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Amb. Dr. Cyprian.T. Heen, alongside the Minister/Head, Trade and Investment Section, Mr. Bello Jaye, to a pivotal program held at the Nigeria House. The event, titled “The Promotion of Investment in Nigeria,” was graced by the presence of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria, on the 4th of April, 2024.

The gathering served as a platform for robust business engagement, drawing in Nigeria’s business leaders, entrepreneurs, foreign investors, and friends of Nigeria. The proceedings commenced with a warm welcome address from the Acting High Commissioner, Amb. Dr. Heen, setting the tone for an insightful session ahead. Following this, brief goodwill messages were shared by notable figures including the Chairman of Central Association of Nigerians in the UK, Chief Ayo Akinfe, and the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, UK South Chapter, Pastor. Niyi Zaccheaus.

The highlight of the event was the presentation by the Honorable Permanent Secretary, Amb. Adamu I. Lamuwa, who shed light on the compelling investment opportunities in Nigeria. Amb. Lamuwa also elaborated on policy improvements aimed at facilitating ease of doing business, such as the Agriculture Investment Incentives Scheme designed to provide investors with credit and insurance backup plans.

An interactive session ensued, moderated by H.E. Amb. Dr. Heen, ensuring active participation and representation across the audience. Notable attendees included the Head of Immigration Section, the Chief of Protocol, Amb. Saidu. D. Muhammad, and other distinguished members of the Foreign Affairs Ministry delegation.

The event concluded on a positive note, with a commitment to foster stronger ties between the Nigeria business community and the High Commission. Mr. Nduka Okeke, Head of the Consular, Education, and Welfare section, expressed optimism for future endeavors, including the forthcoming UK Trade, Investment and Agribusiness Summit/Fair slated for May 2024 in the City of Peterborough.

As a token of appreciation, Mr. Azu used the opportunity to present a copy of his book to the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Adamu I. Lamuwa, and another to the Chief of Protocol, Amb. Saidu. D. Muhammad.
