Walsall, United Kingdom | 26 October 2026

I attended the opening session of the five-day International Workshop on Global Trends and Innovations in Public Sector Management, Community Development, Community Policing and Local Government Autonomy, taking place from 26 to 30 October 2026 at Holiday Inn Express, Tempus Ten, Walsall, West Midlands, United Kingdom.

The programme is organised by CTP International in partnership with CaterandMerger Consult Ltd, UK, bringing together participants for professional learning, knowledge exchange and discussions on strengthening public administration, community development, community safety and grassroots governance.

Following my brief welcome address, I introduced the key resource person, Mr Kachi Okezie, Esq., who delivered an engaging presentation on community development and community policing. His session highlighted the importance of community participation, effective collaboration and practical approaches to addressing local challenges.

Key Outcomes from the Opening Session

The opening session established a foundation for constructive discussions and professional learning throughout the five-day programme. Key areas of emphasis included:

  • Strengthening community development: Recognising the importance of community participation and locally driven initiatives in achieving sustainable development.
  • Promoting effective community policing: Highlighting collaboration between law enforcement agencies, local authorities and community members to improve public safety and crime prevention.
  • Enhancing local governance: Emphasising the need for responsive leadership, effective administration and stronger engagement between public institutions and the communities they serve.
  • Encouraging knowledge exchange: Creating opportunities for participants to share experiences, examine international practices and identify approaches that may be adapted to their respective institutions.
  • Building institutional capacity: Reinforcing the importance of continuous professional development, innovative thinking and practical strategies for improving public service delivery.

These opening discussions set the tone for further engagement on how inclusive governance, institutional collaboration and innovative approaches can help address challenges in public administration and grassroots development.

The workshop provides a valuable platform for participants to explore international best practices, exchange professional experiences and identify innovative strategies for improving public service delivery and strengthening local government institutions.

As the programme continues, attention will focus on translating the knowledge gained into practical recommendations and initiatives that can support more inclusive, accountable and sustainable governance across local communities.

The organisers, CTP International and CaterandMerger Consult Ltd, UK, reaffirm the importance of international cooperation, professional learning and institutional partnerships in advancing effective public-sector management and sustainable community development.
