The CEO of Cater and Merger Consult UK, Mr. Godson Azu has expressed great delight on the official visit of The Worshipful Mayor of the London Borough of Southwark, Clir. Michael Situ, and the Council educational adviser, Mr. David Bromfield, to Akwa Ibom State, on the invitation of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Emo, Governor of Akwa Ibom State. This is in return to the hosting of the Governor in London last year October during the annual London Political Summit, as a follow up to the discussions on strengthening ties and exploring bilateral opportunities, between the London Borough and the State.

Cater and Merger expresses its delight on the visit, highlighting the positive outcomes from discussions between Mr. Mayor Situ and the Akwa Ibom State. H.E. Pastor Umo Eno. The focus of the visit includes discussions on the proposed education exchange program between Akwa Ibom and the Southwark Council’s borough, and other potential capacity building and investment opportunities. This initiative is part of the efforts by Cater and Merger Consult to foster collaboration between Southwark Council and the Akwa Ibom State Government.

The education exchange program, which has been in the works, is gaining momentum, with Mr. David Bromfield engaging in policy sessions with education administrators and conducting skills-sharing sessions with principals of public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom. Last month, 271 students from public secondary schools in Akwa Ibom were screened for potential participation in the UK education exchange program.

The selection process involved identifying the overall best three students from each school, all in senior secondary two. This initiative aligns with Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to revitalizing public education in Akwa Ibom and providing students with global exposure and best practices.

Cater and Merger Consult expressed their readiness to support both governments in various sectors such as trade, agriculture, and training. The bilateral discussions aim to unlock greater opportunities for collaboration and development between the London Borough of Southwark and Akwa Ibom State.

As the official meetings progress, it is anticipated that this visit will pave the way for mutually beneficial partnerships, fostering cultural and educational exchanges that contribute to the growth and development of both regions.
