Ibom Air, the distinguished Akwa Ibom State-owned airline, marked a historic moment with the successful delivery of the first Airbus A220-300 aircraft from the order of ten made at the 2021 Dubai Airshow. The delivery ceremony, held at Airbus’s Mirabel facilities in Canada, was attended by notable figures including the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Ibom Air’s CEO, Mr. Mfon Udom, and the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. George Uriesi.
Representing Airbus at the ceremony were key executives, including Benoît Schultz, President and CEO of Airbus Canada; Daniel Wenninger, Head of the A220 Programme Office; and Marc Arpin, Head of A220 Customer Line, Airbus Canada.
The Airbus A220-300, a marvel of modern aviation technology, is renowned globally for its revolutionary fuel efficiency, cutting-edge technology, and superior passenger comfort and safety features. Designed for short and medium-haul commercial operations, with a remarkable range of up to 7 hours (up to 3,450 nm), the addition of the Airbus A220-300 to Ibom Air’s fleet positions the airline for expanded service across diverse destinations within the African continent.
